UAE celebrates Philippine Independence Day on June 12

On June 12, The Philippines commemorates its 125th year of Independence from Spanish Dominion.

The Philippines' ambassador to the UAE, Alfonso Ferdinand, remarked of the two countries' strong ties.
"President Sheikh Mohamed's forward-thinking leadership... The same reasons why Filipinos have made the UAE their second home, he claimed, are his unwavering support for and appreciation of the Filipino people's contributions to the nation's economy and to the fabric of the UAE's dynamic multicultural society.

About 10,000 Filipinos attended the daylong event on Saturday at the Dubai World Trade Centre, which featured performances by artists and performers from the Philippines and the UAE as well as cultural exhibitions that highlighted traditions through song and dance.

Additionally, there was the colorful past and long history of the resilient Overseas Filipino Workers ( OFW) living abroad, "who have contributed significantly to the development of the UAE."

In her speech to the Filipino expat community, Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, director-general of Dubai's Community Development Authority (CDA), brought this up.

In addition to appreciating the dynamic spirit of variety and inclusivity that distinguishes the tapestry of the UAE, she remarked, "We are assembling here to remember the rich history and incredible journey of the Filipino people towards freedom.

She complimented the Filipino community for its contributions to the development of the UAE and praised their strong work ethic and dedication.

To commemorate the Philippines' Independence Day, the ADNOC building in Abu Dhabi was lit up in the nation's national colors.

On the day of the Filipino people's independence, the Burj Khalifa is illuminated to honor their enthusiasm, perseverance, and rich legacy. As you honor your country's triumphs and progress on this historic day, may it be marked by harmony and joy.

So in this Celebration of the 125th Philippine Independence Day, let us all rejoice in the spirit of freedom and unity.

Share and Be Proud as A Filipino.
