A taste of tradition at Ongpin Mañosa Chinese Restaurant
In the heart of the bustling streets on Chinatown lies a hidden gem for Chinese food lovers. Being born and raised in a Chinese household, I became very familiar with a lot of Chinese restaurants, big or small. One specific quaint Chinese Restaurant which has been our favorite take-out place since the 1980’s is Ongpin Mañosa Restaurant located in Ongpin Street in Binondo. Binondo is considered our country’s Chinatown. Everything in the Mañosa menu has been our all-time favorite like the Machang, Maki soup. Maki-mi, Chami, Lomi, Miki-bihon.

Their menu
For more than 40 years, Mañosa has been serving delicious comfort Chinese food. Mañosa is also called “Ching-Kha” in Chinese. Ask any senior citizen you meet on the streets of Ongpin and they’ll know the place you are referring to.
Their steamed Siomai
Ma-ki soup (thick pork soup) a traditional chinese soup.
Do take note, that Mañosa is far from being a fancy nor elegant restaurant. When you get there, you’ll instantly see the Cashier counter on the left and or the right side, you’ll see right away the big cauldron of Maki-soup and the steamer for their siomai. Inside is their small dine-in area. Unfortunately, the dine-in at the 2nd floor has been closed indefinitely.
I recently accompanied my OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) close friend who was on vacation from Dubai and when I asked her where she wanted to eat, I was not surprised when she said “Mañosa”. I was just teasing her. I already know that this place is one of her favorite authentic Chinese restaurant. Needless to say, she was very delighted when we finally headed to Mañosa to have lunch.
Ongpin Mañosa Restaurant takes pride in preserving and celebrating the heritage of Chinese cuisine.
