Street vendors can be found in every significant cities. They are not able to rent a shop because they are impoverished folks. They move from street to street to market their goods. They also make our lives easier.
The Vendors sell fruits and vegetables. Since early in the morning, you can hear some vendors shouting "taho,"( Philippine snack food made of fresh soft/silken tofu, arnibal (sweetener and flavoring), and sago pearl (similar to tapioca pearls).) "pandesal,"(salt bread) and "binatog."(Boiled white sweet corn kernelwith sugar and coconut.) Some of them are carrying heavy baskets full of fruits and vegetables on their heads, while others carry their loads on their shoulders. Others have bicycles and carts, which make their work easier.
They sell fresh vegetables, fish, and even cooked meals. Old and busy people who cannot manage to go to markets welcome the vendors. The housewives wait for them eagerly. The children are waiting patiently to hear the ice cream bell of the ice cream vendor.
Mang Ambo works as a street vendor. He sells his product at 8 am till late noon. He sells "lumpiang gulay" (vegetables spring that have been fried.)
He sells them at a low price. He has a smart sales technique. He promotes increased sales at the cost of less profit.
In our neighborhood, he has several loyal clients. He has good Math skills and it's his strongest point. In little time, he can calculate money.
Every now and then, he talks about politics. He has two children. Educating them is what he wants to do.
We see a lot of vendors selling other items in our streets throughout the day. They can be heard selling kitchenwares, bed foams, and cabinets. Some vendors occasionally offer to sell their goods for low prices or to accept partial payments rather than full payments.
People in the middle class are buying products from these sellers since they can meet their demands while spending less money.
A few vendors provide services. People can hear them shouting to fix broken shoes, fans, and umbrellas.
A street vendor has a difficult life . He must wake up early and shout or sell all day. He occasionally deceives the clients. He sometimes possesses a little sense of hygiene.
He doesn't make much money. He typically lives in a small hut with his family and struggles to make ends meet.
We can help the street vendors by encouraging other people in the neighborhood to buy their products. Show some love and support to them.Unlike big corporations, street vendors don’t have a marketing or PR agency. It’s only word of mouth that helps them get customers.
