Hey there, my name is Juicey, and I am a guest writer in this website. One of my hobbies is cooking healthy dishes and I want to share my alternative dish for a very famous Filipino dish called SISIG. I replaced the meat ingredients with TOFU. CREAMY TOFU SISIG
INGREDIENTS:
· FIRM TOFU 400 grams. (cut into cubes)
· BUTTER. – around 2 tbsp.
· GARLIC – 3 cloves, chopped.
· ONION – 1 whole medium size, chopped
· BUTTON MUSHROOM 100 grams, sliced (or pieces & stems).
· MAYONNAISE – 220ml
· OYSTER SAUCE – 3 tbsp.
· LIQUID SEASONING – 2 tbsp.
· SOY SAUCE – 2 tbsp.
· WATER – ½ cup
· CALAMANSI – 2 – 3 pcs.
· BLACK PEPPER ½ tsp.
· GREEN CHILI PEPPER 1 pc. (sliced. For garnishing)
THE PROCEDURE :
1. Lightly fry the TOFU CUBES in oil until golden light brown and then set aside.
2. For the Creamy sauce, You can use the same pan you used for frying the Tofu but take our the oil. Then on medium heat, melt the butter in the pan.
3. When the butter is already melted you can now add the garlic and onions at the same time to avoid the garlic from getting burned.
4. After a minute, put the button mushroom and sauté for another minute.
5. Now you can pour in the Mayonnaise; oyster sauce; liquid seasoning; soy sauce and water.
6. When the sauce starts to boil a little, pour in the fried tofu cubes and mix them until all the tofu are covered with the creamy sauce.
7. After a few minutes just before turning off the stove. Put the juices of 2 kalamansi, mix them in and turn off the stove.
8. Transfer the Creamy Tofu Sisig into a serving plate and garnish it with sliced green chili pepper.
